Enveloped in the Cocoon of Transformation

Winter is here and it is a time where we all can create space to receive guidance to support our journey. Over the last few months I have sprinkled in meditations throughout my podcasts to balance each of the five elements - Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Space.

As I have learned through yoga and ayurvedic traditions, for our physical bodies to be in harmony, these 5 elements within us should be in a state of balance. This balance is an essential foundation of overall health and it’s optimal functioning. We can use guided meditations like the one I will be sharing with you today to ward of dis -ease in the body and support healing and wellbeing. I know personally that feeling the embodiment of meditations such as the ones I have been offering up to you has opened a doorway into my own personal spiritual awakening.

Today, we will be doing AKASHA MUDRA - this is a hand mudra that is used to activate the element of space. When we hold this hand mudra, it enhances our awareness of the breath in our throat and neck region by having a massaging effect on the thyroid gland. By increasing circulation to this throat region it also begins to release muscular tension from the neck, Jaws and shoulders.

When practiced, it activates Udana vayu which is the uppermost current of energy in our body. Thus, the 5th chakra begins to open and become more balanced. The Throat Chakra is our seat of expression. It is located between the collarbones and is associated with the upper lungs bronchioles esophagus vocal cords throat thyroid neck and ears.

Let's begin.

  1. Take the tips of your middle finger to touch the tips of the thumbs.

  2. Extend the little finger, the ring finger and the index fingers straight out.

  3. Let the backs of your hands rest on your knees or thighs.

  4. Relax your shoulders up back and down with the spine naturally aligned.

  5. Begin to notice the sensations invoked and awakened by this hand gesture.

As your breath continues notice how your breath is gently directed in an upward motion towards your neck and throat region beginning to cultivate a greater sense of spaciousness. As you sense this spaciousness more deeply, allow yourself to see beyond any boundaries or limitations and begin to glimpse at your Limitless possibilities.

Continue to take several breaths sensing the space around you, notice how space forms the container in which you live, and,  in which you breathe.   This Matrix allows for everything to come into being.

Now, sense the space occupied by your physical being by tracing your body's Contours with the space around you.

Take several breaths and notice how these Contours expand and relax energetically with the rhythm of your breath.   This allows you to perceive that your physical boundaries may not be as fixed as they initially appear to be.

Begin to explore the space within your body,  taking plenty of time to sense it's hollow cavities such as your lungs, your bladder, your stomach and the intestines.   Notice how space is essential for your body's functioning.

Now,  choose any organ within your body,  take some time to notice its shape volume intensity

As you explore this organ even more closely,  you begin to see it is actually composed of individual cells which are formed and working and cooperating for your optimal well-being and health.

Next, journey into one of these cells,  notice how it is made up of innumerable atoms.   As you venture inside one of these,  you discover that it is mostly empty space.

Within this vastness,  subatomic particles appear and disappear within a field of infinite possibilities,  but all reflect the creative intelligence that is the Matrix for everything.

Continue to take several breaths as you sense yourself as one with this intelligence that is the essential nature of space that encompasses everything and everyone including your own mind and body.

As you sense the spaciousness that is your essential being, take this time to open up your perception of your own infinite possibilities, and as you affirm your spaciousness repeat the following either in your mind eye or aloud:


Attuned to the spaciousness of my truest being,  I am open to infinite possibilities.

Attuned to the spaciousness of my truest being,  I am open to infinite possibilities.

Attuned to the spaciousness of my truest being,  I am open to infinite possibilities.


Allow everything to dissolve,  release the hand gesture,  and take several breaths he simply rest in the inherent spaciousness you just created. When you're ready, butterfly open your eyes self to return gently and slowly and sent how the space element has revealed all of your infinite possibilities

I hope you found today’s meditation an invitation to cultivate some inner listening and helped support you during winter energy months.  

Do this meditation anytime you want to work with the Throat Chakra.  Winter energy is the perfect time to slow the breath down to 4 breaths or less per minute to calm the mind and access the neutral mind.  My teacher Sierra taught me to cultivate awareness to inner space by methodically paying attention.   First, pay attention to anything that grabs your attention in your space. Then, move attention to one of the qualities of the neutral mine - peace, stillness, non-duality, silence or non-judgement.  Once you are fully experiencing these qualities - deeply listen and as you deeply listen can you be a witness to what awakens in your body, experiencing that you are aware and can feel at the same time to that your feelings become intuition…… This is where you can access your inner guidance system - this is where your personal truths lay.

This can be tricky  but I promise with practice you can begin to distinguish between authentic messages and fear or anger based programming or conditioning.

Today we experienced the final element for building a firm foundation of balancing all five elements and instilling a sense of integration and harmony at all levels of our being as a foundation of health and healing.  If you missed any, I invite you to go back to podcast episodes 27, 28, 31 and 34 and experience earth, water, fire, air and space.  As these five elements come into balance within you, I hope you will experience an overall feeling of harmony and unity.  It’s my heart's deepest desire that you have an overall sense of integration and wholeness so that you can align more easily with your truest being and connect to Love and Light.
